It has the ability to connect to the remote VPN and allows for local traffic.ĮDIT2: I can’t find that setting in the OpenVPN. Certain browsers (such as Puffin Browser) pre-render web-pages on their servers before sending them to your device. It may also be possible to use a different VPN app configured manually for the VPN provider.ĮDIT: My understanding is the OpenVPN app may work as an alternative. The Nvidia Shield is one of the most powerful Android-based devices on the market today. If you are connected to the VPN on your Nvidia Shield and are seeing that you are not protected when accessing our website, this could potentially be a false-positive that comes about due to a quirk of some Android TV browsers. That way all local devices would continue to talk to each other. One solution would be to stop running the VPN on each device and instead run the VPN on the router. In addition you often don’t want to be spied upon anywhere between your device and the VPN provider. This is often a desirable effect because you want the device to act as if it’s only part of the virtual network. It sounds as though the app doesn’t have an option to treat the local network as local well still tunneling all other traffic through the VPN. Alternatively, deliver the app from the Play Store listing.

Search the App Store on your Nvidia Shield device for 'Windscribe' and install the application. In this configuration the shield treats the local network as if it were an outside network. Windscribe Free VPN for Nvidia Shield which that allows you to browse privately on your Nvidia Shield. A VPN (Virtual Private Network) connects devices or networks to a single virtual network. It also sounds like the OP is using a VPN app on the shield. I can continue using my HTPC computer to hold my recorded TV, as well as a library of movies and TV shows. Is sounds like he has a Tablo separate from the shield. I have a Sony Receiver that is connected to surround sound speakers, and am viewing through HDMI on a Sanyo TV. I want to be able to use a VPN (currently use Private Internet Access on other devices). I would like to be able to pull Zap2it EPG guide data (which I tested through TVHeadend for a few days with zap2epg addon), with either TVHeadend or Emby to enable recording from OTA, with Kodi as the front end. I would like to be able to continue using my HDHomerun Extend to view and pass through for recording on Kodi. I am not a hardware or software expert, by any means, but I've managed to find enough information on the internet to muddle through. I tried Linux Mint before I realized that my graphics card was too old to work with it (or anything else, apparently). My former system consisted of HDHomerun Extend (connected to an antenna) on a Windows 7 with Windows Media Center, Schedules Direct, WMC PVR, and Kodi. I was using an HTPC system until recently, but had to give it up because my VPN was no longer working with Windows 7.
